Accessibility Features

Keyboard navigation, screen readers, and reduced motion support.

Last updated April 2026

Manager Toolkit is designed to be usable by everyone. This article covers the accessibility features built into the platform and how to make the most of them.

Keyboard Navigation

You can navigate the entire application using your keyboard. All interactive elements - buttons, links, form fields, and menus - are reachable via the Tab key. The current focus is indicated visually so you always know where you are on the page.

Tab

Move focus to the next interactive element.

Shift + Tab

Move focus to the previous interactive element.

Enter / Space

Activate the focused button or link.

Escape

Close modals, dropdowns, and overlays.

For a full list of keyboard shortcuts that speed up common tasks, see the keyboard shortcuts guide.

Focus Indicators

When navigating with the keyboard, a visible focus ring appears around the currently active element. This makes it clear which button, link, or input will respond when you press Enter or Space. Focus indicators are styled to be visible against both light and dark themes.

Focus indicators are essential for keyboard-only users who cannot rely on a mouse cursor to show where they are on the page. They also help sighted users who switch between mouse and keyboard, providing a consistent visual cue regardless of input method.

Screen Reader Support

Manager Toolkit uses semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to work with screen readers. Key elements include:

  • Proper heading hierarchy on every page, so screen reader users can navigate by headings
  • Descriptive labels on form fields and buttons
  • ARIA roles for custom components like modals, dropdowns, and tab panels
  • Status announcements for dynamic content changes, such as when an item is saved or an error occurs
If you encounter an area of the app that does not work well with your screen reader, please let us know through the contact page. We actively improve accessibility based on user feedback.

Reduced Motion

If you prefer less animation, Manager Toolkit respects the prefers-reduced-motion setting from your operating system. When enabled, transitions and animations are either simplified or removed entirely. This benefits users who experience discomfort from motion effects.

To enable reduced motion:

  • macOS - System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Reduce motion
  • Windows - Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects > Animation effects (turn off)
  • iOS - Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion
  • Android - Settings > Accessibility > Remove animations

High Contrast via Themes

Manager Toolkit offers multiple themes including options with higher contrast ratios. If you find the default theme difficult to read, try switching to a theme with stronger contrast between text and background colours.

Higher contrast themes increase the distinction between foreground text and background colours, making content easier to read in bright lighting conditions or for users with low vision. You can preview themes instantly from your preferences before committing to a change.

Combine a high-contrast theme with your browser's built-in zoom (Ctrl/Cmd + Plus) for the most readable experience. Manager Toolkit's responsive layout adapts to increased zoom levels.

Responsive Design

The interface adapts to different screen sizes and works with browser zoom up to 200% without losing functionality. This benefits users who need larger text or interface elements, as well as those using the app on various devices.

All core features - including the dashboard, catchup forms, action lists, and navigation - reflow correctly at higher zoom levels. Content does not get clipped or hidden behind other elements. If you use a screen magnifier, the responsive layout ensures that the portion of the page you are viewing remains usable and well-structured.
