Frequently Asked Questions about Actions

Common questions about actions and task tracking.

Last updated April 2026

Can I create an action without linking it to anything?

Yes. You can create a standalone action from the Actions page or using the plus menu. Not every task needs to come from a catchup or meeting - standalone actions are perfectly fine for ad-hoc to-do items.

What happens when I complete an action?

Marking an action as complete moves it out of your active list and into your completed history. It remains visible in any linked catchup, meeting, or retrospective so you can always see what was done.

Can I change the priority of an action later?

Yes. Open the action and update its priority at any time. This is useful when circumstances change and something becomes more or less urgent. See Action Priority Best Practices for guidance on when to use each level.

How do I find actions from a specific catchup?

Open the catchup and you will see all actions that were created during that conversation. Alternatively, you can filter your actions list to show actions by source. See Where Actions Come From for more details.

Can I assign an action to someone else?

Actions are linked to people on your team rather than assigned in a delegation sense. You can associate an action with a team member when creating it, which helps you track who the task relates to.

What is the difference between completing and deleting an action?

Completing an action marks it as done and keeps it in your history for reference. Deleting an action removes it permanently. If you want to maintain a record of what was accomplished, always complete rather than delete.
