Team Targets

Assigning targets to team members, filtering, and reviewing across your team.

Last updated April 2026

When you manage multiple people, keeping track of everyone's goals can become complex. This guide explains how to use team-level target views to stay on top of progress across your entire team.

Viewing Targets by Team Member

The Targets page lets you filter by team member, so you can quickly see all active goals for a specific person. This is particularly useful before a one-to-one catchup, when you want to review what they are working towards and check for any items that are at risk or overdue.

You can also view targets across the whole team to get a broader picture. This cross-team view helps you spot imbalances, such as one person having too many active targets while another has none.

Filtering by Status

In addition to filtering by team member, you can filter targets by status:

At Risk

Targets that need immediate attention.

In Progress

Targets to check whether they are on track.

Not Started

Targets that may need a nudge to get moving.

Complete

Targets to review achievements.

The Targets page is laid out as a kanban board, with one column per status. Combine the team member filter with the kanban view to see at a glance where each person's targets sit and which ones need attention.

Balancing Targets Across the Team

A common challenge is distributing targets fairly. Some team members naturally take on more, while others may be reluctant to commit to formal goals. Use the team-wide view to check that the workload is balanced.

If one person has eight active targets and another has one, it is worth discussing whether the distribution is intentional or whether some targets need to be reassigned or adjusted.

Using Targets for Team Planning

Team targets data is useful for planning conversations with your own manager or during team planning sessions. You can show:

  • How many targets are in progress across the team
  • The completion rate over a given period
  • Which areas have the most activity
  • Where bottlenecks or risks exist

This data helps you make informed decisions about resourcing, priorities, and development investment.

Review the full team targets view at least monthly to spot patterns and imbalances. Discuss target distribution openly with your team - transparency about workload builds trust. When a team member completes their targets ahead of schedule, consider whether they are ready for more challenging goals.
