Quick Actions

Creating items from the dashboard and using toolbar shortcuts.

Last updated April 2026

Quick actions let you create new items directly from the dashboard without navigating to individual feature pages. This guide explains the shortcuts available and how to use them efficiently.

The Dashboard Toolbar

The dashboard includes a toolbar with quick action buttons for the most common tasks:

New Action

Create a follow-up task directly from your dashboard.

New Catchup

Log a one-to-one conversation without leaving the dashboard.

New Meeting

Record a group meeting quickly.

New Reminder

Set a date-based alert for future follow-up.

Each button opens a creation form pre-filled with sensible defaults. You can fill in the details and save without leaving the dashboard context.

When to Use Quick Actions

Quick actions are designed for moments when you want to capture something quickly. Common scenarios include:

  • You remember a follow-up task while reviewing your dashboard and want to log it before you forget
  • You have just finished a catchup and want to record it immediately
  • Someone mentions something in passing that you want to set a reminder for
  • You need to note a quick action item without disrupting your current workflow

The speed of quick actions makes them ideal for capturing items in the moment, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.

Creating Items From Widgets

In addition to the toolbar, some dashboard widgets allow you to take action directly. For example:

  • The overdue actions widget lets you click through to update or complete an action
  • The upcoming catchups widget lets you start logging a catchup for a team member who is due
  • Pinned entities can be clicked to navigate directly to the item

These shortcuts reduce the number of clicks needed to act on the information your dashboard is showing you.

Use quick actions for capture, then add details later if needed. A brief action title is better than nothing. Get into the habit of checking your dashboard at the start and end of each day.
