Importing a Transcript
Paste a meeting transcript or AI-generated summary into your catchup and let AI convert it into a structured discussion. Each comment is automatically attributed to you (the manager) or the team member.
How It Works
Open a catchup and find the Discussion section header. Click the Add Transcript button on the right side of the header.
In the modal that appears, paste your transcript. This can be a raw meeting transcript, a recording summary from a tool like Otter.ai or Microsoft Teams, or an AI-generated summary of your conversation.
Click Import Discussion. AI will analyse the text, determine who said what, and convert it into discussion messages. Comments from you appear as "You" and comments from the team member appear under their name. Any follow-up actions mentioned in the transcript are automatically added to the Actions tab.
The parsed messages are appended to any existing discussion and actions are added as pending follow-ups. Review the result and edit individual messages or actions if needed.
What Gets Parsed
The AI looks for cues to determine who is speaking:
- Questions and directions are typically attributed to you (the manager)
- Updates, answers, and status reports are typically attributed to the team member
- Named speakers in the transcript are matched to the correct role
- AI summaries are split into what each person discussed
For best results, paste transcripts that include speaker labels or clear conversational turns. Even a bullet-point summary works well.
Tips for Good Results
- Include speaker names if your transcript has them (e.g. "Tom: How is the project going?")
- Longer transcripts give the AI more context to work with
- AI summaries from tools like Otter, Fireflies, or Teams Copilot work well
- You can import multiple transcripts into the same catchup. Each import appends to the existing discussion
Transcripts are processed by AI and not stored separately. Only the resulting discussion messages are saved with your catchup.
Requirements
- This is a Pro feature. Free plan users will be prompted to upgrade when clicking Add Transcript
- Transcripts must be at least 10 characters and no more than 50,000 characters
- An internet connection is required for AI processing
