Converting Between Actions and Reminders

Turn an action into a reminder or a reminder into an action.

Last updated April 2026

Sometimes an action turns out to be more of a reminder, or a reminder grows into something that needs proper tracking. Manager Toolkit lets you convert between the two so items end up in the right place.

Converting an Action to a Reminder

Open the action you want to convert from your Actions list.
Look for the Convert to Reminder option in the action menu.
Confirm the conversion. The action's title and due date carry over to the new reminder.

This is useful when you realise a task is actually a "do not forget" prompt rather than something that needs tracking with priorities and progress. For example, "Remember to ask Sarah about the conference" is better as a reminder than an action.

Converting a Reminder to an Action

Open the reminder from your Reminders page.
Click the Convert to Action option.
The reminder becomes an action. You can then set a priority, assign it, and add subtasks as needed.

This works well when a simple reminder turns into something more involved. If "Check in with the new hire" becomes "Create a 30-day onboarding plan for the new hire", it deserves the structure of an action.

What Carries Over

When converting, the title, notes, due date, and any linked team member are preserved. Source links (such as a connection to a catchup) are also maintained where applicable.

If you find yourself regularly converting items in one direction, it may be worth pausing to consider which type to create in the first place. Actions are for trackable tasks; reminders are for date-based prompts.
